The OTO program targets “impact” offenders, identified as such based on their criminal history and involvement with gangs, drugs, weapons, and violence, and who will be returning to the City of Boston. Under contract with the Boston Police Department, CRJ’s OTO team will be providing transitional case management services for these offenders prior to, and for six months after, their release from Massachusetts DOC facilities.
The main goals of the program are to reduce violent recidivism, increase successful community reentry, and ensure higher levels of public safety. The OTO office is located at CRJ’s Brooke House, but the majority of staff time will be split between the DOC facilities and the community. We welcome the OTO team to SJS and CRJ, and are looking forward to this pilot project resulting in stable and constructive lives for the participants.
