The week of April 24th – 29th was designated as the first-ever National Reentry Week by the U. S. Department of Justice and Attorney General Loretta Lynch to highlight the important work of reentry.
Several of CRJ’s reentry programs held events in recognition of the week.
On Monday, the US Attorney for the District of MA, Carmen Ortiz, visited Coolidge House, one of CRJ’s Federal Residential Reentry Centers (RRC’s). She toured the facility, met individually with several residents, and addressed a group of about 20 residents. Ms. Ortiz was interested in how the men are adjusting to their transition from incarceration back to the community and what they are concerned about. She fielded questions from the residents on what they would like her to know about their experience with the justice system and with the RRC.
On Thursday, CRJ’s Brooke House and OTO programs hosted an Open House celebration at the Brooke House in the Fenway area of Boston. The intent was to showcase our programs and to honor our staff who do the real work of reentry to change the lives of those in our care. The event was well attended by many local partners and collaborators. Staff hope to make this an annual event at the program.
