Houston House is SJS’s newest program, supporting men and women transitioning from federal incarceration back into Rhode Island communities. It’s named in memory of Neil J. Houston Jr., the longtime head of one of the organizations that would later merge to become Community Resources for Justice.

Fast fact

The LightHouse Reentry Center is located on the site of the former Buffalo Halfway House, which operated from 1974 to 2017. Community Resources for Justice received approval from the Federal Bureau of Prisons to re-open the reentry center in 2019.

WMRC is a community-based residential program located near community resources with easy access to public transportation in West Springfield.

Since 1984, Family ReEntry has worked to break cycles of violence, crime, and incarceration by providing client-centered interventions and support services to empower and strengthen individuals, families, and communities. Family ReEntry provides domestic violence treatment and education, community reentry services, mentoring programs, and intensive outpatient programs. The Bridgeport, Connecticut-based non-profit merged with Community Resources for Justice in 2020, becoming a part of CRJ’s Social Justice Services division. Watson Academy provides programming and coordinates tutoring for SJS residents and provides training for SJS staff.
